Quantum is committed to extending its services to those who need it the most. With this in mind, Quantum established Shishu Kanon– a rehabilitation center for deprived children– in Keyajupara, Lama, Bandarban, one of the remotest areas of the country. In this ‘Garden of Children’ destitute children belonging to deprived indigenous groups get a chance to blossom.

The center provides all the support necessary for the children to grow up as enlightened individuals. It now houses two residential halls: one of them named after National Professor M. R. Khan; a library named after Abdullah Abu Sayeed, the award winning founder of Biswa Shahitta Kendra( World Literature Center: designed to give youth exposure to world literature); a medical center named after National Professor Nurul Islam; and a playground, among others.

Shishu Kanon Students Make the Murong Community Proud! In 2008, the first batch of Shishu Kanon students passed the S.S.C. exam, a major countrywide examination in Bangladesh, with flying colors. Out of the three, Sum Thong and Thong Ya got A+s, while Nan Oai got A. Turns out they were the first people from the Murong community to get As in the S.S.C. exam! The jubilant Murongs brought out procession to celebrate their success.

Shishu Kanon School was established in 2001 with just 7 residential members. The center now houses almost 250 children from various indigenous groups: Murongs, Marmas, Chakmas, Tripuras, Boms, Tinchongas, Khumis, Chaks, Khyangs, Lusai, and the almost extinct Pangkhoyas, in addition to Bengalees. Their religions range from Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism to Krama (an indigenous faith), Christianity, (Catholic and Baptist) and nature worship. Shishu Kanon is unique among the schools in Chittagong Hill Tracts in that so many groups and religions are represented.

Quantum is trying its best to bring up these children as enlightened and well rounded individuals. The children start their day early with meditation. Besides academic studies, they take part in a variety of activities including sports, physical education, Kung fu and Quantum Yoga; music, dance and art classes and competitions; publication of wall magazines; watching educational TV programs and documentaries etc. Every day, they also take part in the 'service hour': when they participate in various work of the resort.

Shishu Kanon students have won the annual parade and display competitions organized by local and district authorities for the last six years in a row.
